Let's Play Portion Control!

I'm on the road back from Florida, so I thought I'd post a quick, but fun and informative, post today. We've talked about portion control and its importance quite a bit here at Healthy Writer, but did that information sink in? Can you apply it when it's staring you in the face? I got 51 points. Like Tawny, that steak threw me -- hard to gauge size on a tiny laptop screen!

52 points for me, I overestimated a lot when it came to the amount of cheese on a pizza. Of course now I want pizza! :D

Fun post, Trish! I scored 68 points, but only because of a "Healthy Writer" blog entry from several weeks ago, where several people were discussing portions. It struck me then how much smaller the portions were than I'd anticipated and it's been in the back of my mind since.

That was fun. I scored 64. The one I got wrong was the salad dressing as I thought 2 tablespoons was a single serving not 1 tablespoon. Perhaps that is what they say on the back of the salad dressing bottle. I need to double check that one. I NEVER do the dip your fork in the dressing trick.

Now, I can recognize what is a proper portion, but I find it harder to keep myself limited to the proper portions - particularly when eating out. I don't think I've ever eaten just ONE serving of steak (3-4 oz.) in one sitting in my life! But, I've known for a long time that portion control was something I struggled with - and I'm much better at it now.

Wow, Elise and Michelle, you both smoked this quiz. I'm glad to see so many people did well. I still need to learn more about proper portion sizes, but at least I know more than I did at this time last year.

All my time in Weight Watchers is teaching me how to recongize proper portion control - always following it is a whole different challenge. :)
